Tip: The crucible maxes out around 1340°C with coke fuel. For iron and steel, you need a bloomery or cementation furnace instead.
Steel Production
Steel cannot be alloyed in a crucible. It requires a multi-step process:
- Smelt iron ore in a bloomery to get iron blooms
- Work blooms on an anvil to get iron ingots
- Build a refractory cementation furnace (requires fire bricks)
- Load 16 iron ingots + 200 charcoal or coke into the furnace
- Wait ~6.67 in-game days for blister steel
- Work blister steel on an iron anvil or helve hammer to get steel ingots
Tip: Each cementation run yields up to 16 blister steel from 16 iron ingots. A helve hammer greatly speeds up the working step.
